Definitions in social media
Aggregate - Collect updates from, or send updates to multiple sites.
Blogging - A personal journal published online chronologically. Comments can be exchanged between the readers and the author.
Bookmarking - Saving a link to a website that you want to refer to again or share. Allows for easy organization and searching.
Forum - An online discussion site.
Microblogging - Brief updates usually text but may also include pictures and video.
Podcast - Audio or digital broadcast on the internet. You may watch or listen to the broadcast on your computer or on a portable device.
RSS (Rich Site Summary or Real Simple Syndication) - A system that allows users to subscribe to a website and receive updates without needing to visit the site.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) - process of designing a website to increase traffic to it via organic searches. This is generally done by manipulating content to highlight critical keywords.
Tagging - Creating and
managing labels (or “tags”) that categorize content using simple
keywords. Also referred to as folksonomy.
Trackback (similar to linkback and pingback) - Allows authors to receive notification when someone links to one of their documents.
Tweeting - post or status update on Twitter.
Widgets - an application where the code can simply be copied and pasted into a website. This allows users to click on it and access additional information.

Twitter - A service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate
and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to
one simple question: What are you doing? Considered microblogging due to the limited characters (140) allowed per post.
LinkedIn - An online professional network. Google Reader - A free service that gathers information automatically from websites selected by user. Information may be shared with other users. An example of an aggregator.
Blogger - an easy to use tool that allows users to upload their blogs (weblog).
